yesterday at his home after a short illness. He was a son of the late Isaac H. and Margaret Shull Brinkerhoff, Straban township. Mr. Brinkerhoff was a lifelong member of The Pines Lutheran Church, New Chester, and was active in community affairs.

He served as president and secretary of borough council in addition to being burgess and also held similar offices in the York Springs Fire Company. In 1946 he retired as an employe of the Metropolitan Edison Company after serving 25 years as an electrical worker. For years he manager of the 10 Springs hardware store. BLAST INJURES FIVE Security Clamp Placed on California Plant NEWHALL, April 1 explosion in, a plant where proximity fuses are assembled for the armed forces injured five persons yesterday and led to a tight security clamp on the area. The blast took place in the U. S. Flare Corp.

plant 10 miles northeast of here in Soledad canyon. According to information received by the sheriff's substation here, the blast occurred in a small test shed near the main plant, made on the officers. But before any check, could be government security agents closed off the entire plant. The county fire department's engine companies were ordered to "stand by" but plant fire equipment apparently had the situation under control. The injured were brought to Newhall Community Hospital where none was reported in serious condition.
